Building the N4CF 6-meter Moxon

Build your own 6M Moxon with these 3D-printed parts and the fiberglass spreader rods described above.

You get, clockwise from upper-right:

• One central hub
• Four spreader end caps
• Two feed point insulators
• Two wire end insulators

Working with fiberglass is nasty, so I revised the design to eliminate the fiberglass pegs by 3D-printing posts with holes at the top for the antenna wire.

The 3D posts eliminate cutting 12 fiberglass pegs, and drilling holes in them for the antenna wire. No more fiberglass shards embedded in your fingers!

A couple of notes about Version 2:

• The 3D-printed posts aren't as strong as the fiberglass pegs used in V1 parts. This isn't a problem in use, but take care to not break a post while stringing the wire.


• Because of their tall posts, V2 parts come off the printer with more stringy "fuzz" than the V1 parts. I use a sharp knife to clean-up the parts, but some "fuzz" might remain. It does not affect performance – if you're concerned about looks, trim it off.

It can be difficult to identify the front of the Moxon from below when it is high in the air.

Solution: Use a red feed point insulator and corners to identify the front. This photo shows both versions of these parts.

When you order below, choose WHITE or RED from the Color of front parts drop-down list. If you choose red, you get one red feed point insulator and two red corners. All other parts are white.
